From the Chair

Dear Visitor,

It is with great pride that I welcome you to the website for the La Raza Lawyers of Santa Clara County Charitable Foundation. We have come a long way since the late Andrew Gonzalez started our mission in the 1990s. Since that time, we have provided over $220,000 in scholarships directly to Bay Area law students committed to representing and serving the Latino/a community.

Our Foundation, which formally gained non-profit 501(c)(3) status in 2006, has in recent years also funded a summer judicial internship for Bay Area first-year law students selected by the Foundation. Winners of this award are eligible to receive up to $7,500 to help defer living expenses while volunteering for a Bay Area judge.

We also encourage you to support forget our Annual Scholarship Dinner, in the fall of each year. Hailed by many as the best bar-related dinner in the Bay Area, details of the event will be released every Spring. At our dinner we award up to three scholarships to Bay Area law students. And, for the first time ever in 2017, we will be awarding a $20,000 scholarship to one very deserving law student in honor of our 20th Anniversary. Please visit our “Scholarship” link to apply or our “Events” link for more information on attending or sponsoring the dinner. Your attendance at and/or contribution to the dinner–and toward our $20,000 scholarship fund–will help ensure the continued support of the Latino/a legal community. Please consider donating to help these wonderful law students succeed in school.

As you can see, this is an exciting time for the Foundation as we continue to support those who serve the Latino/a community. If you would like to be part of this mission, we encourage you to join our affiliated organization, the Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Association (

Gracias, Buena Suerte, y Adelante Siempre,

J. Carlos Orellana, Chair and President
